Jakarta's once beloved pedicab, the becak, may soon be allowed to roam the city's streets again. A Jakarta Transportation Agency official has stated yesterday that the Jakarta Administration will revise the Public Order Regional Regulation (Perda Tibum) which prohibits the operation of this human-powered transportation. Currently, there are actually as many as 1,685 becaks that are re-operating in Jakarta since Anies' reign, although there is no legal protection that allows them yet. These becak are operating in limited territories, mainly in North Jakarta. Do you think Jakarta will be able to handle the return of becak? Tell us what you think!
